Issue 33

July 2011

When you need to know the news, read the Nulla-Noos

Hi Nulla's,

Well, this is the first Nulla-Noos for a long long time eh ??

And, it’s the first one since I retired too, so now I’ll have more time to type these out and annoy the crap out of you with a lot of worthless dribble too …. ha ha ha.

But hopefully, I’ll be able to keep you informed on matters that relate to something of importance too, which would make a change for the norm.

So read on, lots of things have happened of late, and if you know, well good, but if you don’t, I’m hear to tell you.

And if you have anything that you would like to report, please send it to me and it’ll go in the next edition, and yes, there will be a next edition.

Your 2011/2012 Membership card is included in the envelope, if you’ve paid up … ha ha ha

Also, it is with great pleasure that I welcome Rod “Macka” McPherson into the group.

Rod is a mate of Pop’s and was introduced to me at a HOG meeting sometime back.

Pop convinced him that he should consider joining us, but I have no idea why, but hey $20 is $20, and I’m happy to take his money from him.

Apparently, Macka has done quite a few miles and rides with Pop, Springer, Geo, Aud, and a few others, so I think we’ll be pretty safe allowing him the privilege of joining us.

Welcome to the club mate, and I hope you enjoy your experience and time with us.

And I’ve allocated you Member # 19, as no one else was using it.

Luigi has now left on his overseas holiday to visit the family overseas in New York and in Sicily and from all reports, he having a great time too.

His flights took him from Perth – Singapore – Shanghai and his first destination of Vancouver in Canada.

Vancouver was to catch up with friends that he & Josie met on their last trip together in 2004, and it was only for a couple of days.

From there, he took a side trip and went on the “Rocky Mountaineer”, which is the train through to Calgary and said it was absolutely brilliant and definitely worth the money spent.

2 days, an overnight stop at Kamloop and Gold Leaf service all the way. The scenery was breath-taking, so hopefully, he worked out how to use the camera and took some great photos of the journey for us to flick through on his return.

Then it was a flight from Calgary back to Vancouver to continue the one-way round the world flights and on to New York to meet up Theresa, the first of the family members left behind when Josie passed away.

Theresa, Josie’s older sister and her family, have taken her passing hard as it was a little un-expected and happened quicker than anticipated too.

From New York, it’s then on to Rome and then Palermo in Sicily and finally to Sinagra for 5 weeks to catch-up with the rest of the family.

He’ll be back into Perth early September and rumour has it, retirement, [ like me ] so hopefully we’ll get some fine weather and then we can arrange a few rides for the rest of the Nulla retirees …

As most of you know, the 2011 HOG National Rally is being held in Margaret River this November, and Johno and GeeJay are planning to ride across the paddock to attend.

At this time, the intention is that Johno will leave Melbourne on the Saturday and head for Adelaide, and then both of the boys will hook up together somewhere and leave Adelaide on the Sunday and arrive into Perth on the Tuesday arvo or maybe Wednesday morning.

GeeJay’s wife, Kim, will fly to Perth and also arrive on Wednesday arvo, and all will be bunking here [ at Wizard & Ant’s place]

Then we, whom includes Luigi, Radar and who-ever else wishes to join us, will all leave on Thursday morning for the rally site, staying in Margaret River at the Margaret River Tourist Park – 44 Station Road at our pre-booked cabins.

Depending on the arrival time on Kim’s flight, and the timing of the guys arriving into Perth too, I was thinking of arranging a little ride out into the country and meet them at maybe Cunderdin or Meckering or somewhere out that way.

I’m still waiting on the confirmation of Kim’s flight details, but once I receive these, I’ll have a rough idea of timing for this to all come together a bit better.

Not knowing who’s going to the rally, and what everybody’s intending to do regarding getting there, it’s a bit hard to arrange a group ride at this point, but I think it’d be good if we could as it’s been a while since we’ve had a good ride together as the Nullaboys.

I’ll send out an email a bit further along and see what response we get for a group ride to Margaret River or the rally site.

Speaking of good rides, something I’ve always wanted to do is attend the Anzac Day Dawn Service / Parade at the National War Memorial in Canberra.

As I’ve now got the time to do a few things like this, I’m thinking about going over to Canberra in April 2012, and whilst I’m there, have a bit more of a holiday and a look around our nation

3 weeks minimum with a departure date of Saturday April 14th, as this would allow plenty of time to get there and have a good look around and at a leisurely pace, and then departing Canberra on the Monday April 30th, with a 5 day return getting us back into Perth around Friday May 4th.

If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll start working on a travel plan for it.

Well, that’s it for this issue…. Hope to see you again soon.
